Support for the design of the Green Business Facility

Design instruments for the establishment and operationalisation of a Green Business Facility (GBF) for the proposal “Scaling up the co-management model of Communal Reserves to reduce emissions and increase the resilience of indigenous peoples in the Peruvian Amazon”, approved by the Green Climate Fund, aims to empower indigenous peoples to achieve sustainability of 10 Communal Reserves and their surrounding areas, promoting the sustainable use of natural ecosystems, limiting deforestation and forest degradation, restoring degraded ecosystems and improving community livelihoods.

To this end, it has created a fund for the establishment of conservation businesses, in which public and private actors will participate, in order to provide technical and financial assistance to effectively implement the co-management model of the Communal Reserves and the sustainable management of their adjacent areas.

GlobalCAD and CESAL are responsible for designing a GBF funding structure that responds to the funding needs of the indigenous communities living in the 10 Communal Reserves, taking advantage of the funding mechanisms that currently exist in Peru, and identifying contextual opportunities and potential partners that could guarantee the future sustainability of the project.
