Open registration for the free training courses on Climate Action in Jamaica

Several free online courses will build capacities for climate resilience through increased awareness of climate change in Jamaica. A series of 16 courses will be held during February and March in several cities of the country and will engage different publics, such as Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies, Policy Makers, Local Government Councillors, Parish Councils or Municipal Authorities, and institutions and individuals from the civil society.

The Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation (MEGJC), through the Adaptation Programme and Financing Mechanism for the Pilot Programme for Climate Resilience (AP&FM-PPCR), is in the process of implementing a Climate Change Awareness Programme for Policy Makers and Government Ministries. Funding for this activity is from the Climate Investment Funds through the Inter-American Development Bank.

GlobalCAD is implementing this consultancy aimed at increasing awareness of the causes and impacts of climate change and to build capacity for climate change mainstreaming into development planning in Jamaica, by conducting a Climate Change Awareness Programme for Policy Makers and Government Ministries.
The specific objectives are:

1. To develop a Climate Change Awareness Programme for Policy Makers and Government Ministries, in order to increase their awareness on: the potential impacts of climate change, measures to build climate resilience and actions which may be taken towards climate impacts, by conducting targeted workshops and seminars at national and local government levels; including a focus to engage with civil society.

2. To provide communication strategies, tools, training and relevant information to generate long-term behavioural change.

Objectives, contents and more details about the course may be found on the brochure.

Interested persons in participating should fill in this form to submit their application.
