GlobalCAD at the Fourth Green Growth Knowledge Platform Annual Conference

CAD intervened at the Fourth Green Growth Knowledge Platform (GGKP) Annual Conference that was held on 6 and 7 September in Jeju Island, South Korea.

The theme of this year was “Transforming Development through Inclusive Green Growth”. After reaching important commitments in 2015 such as the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Paris Climate Agreement, and the Addis Ababa Action Agenda, the time has come for implementation and turning commitments into action.

In order to scale-up inclusive green growth solutions that respond to these commitments, the Fourth GGKP Annual Conference drew together leading global experts, academics, and practitioners to identify, discuss, and debate the latest research and policy solutions. In particular, the discussions explored how to ensure that the pursuit of green growth is equitable and inclusive.

This theme was particularly suited to CAD that has been working since its creation on how to promote a greener and more inclusive growth. CAD was invited by the organisers, the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) to present its study “Green growth and Human Capital Development”. CAD’s partner Philippe Jochaud presented the main outcomes of this work realised in 2014 for the African Development Bank that highlights how the development of skills and technology and job creation are an essential strategy that policy makers should apply to increase the capacity for Green Growth.

The GGKP, founded by GGGI, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and the World Bank, is the world’s largest global partnership of organisations and experts committed to collaboratively generating, managing, and sharing green growth knowledge.
