CAD supports UNFPA in Latin America to work on partnerships for development

On 21st, 22nd and 23rd May, CAD and UNFPA LACRO organized in Panama a series of workshops on resource mobilization and strategic partnerships for development in Latin America. The workshops, which included representatives of the major countries in the region, were intended to strengthen the capacity of the organization to work with private companies and non-traditional development stakeholders.

These workshops are framed within the regional project CAD is leading to support UNFPA country offices to identify strategic partners to work with, and incubate potential partnerships that enable the organization to maximize its impact on development and to support vulnerable youth and adolescents. Based on this analysis, CAD has recorded files on the identification of relevant private companies and organizations with which UNFPA could work as well as strategic recommendations on how to increase social value proposition for the Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Mexico, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela offices.

During the workshops, several working groups were formed to review the strategic reports developed by CAD and a series of simulations were made involving the work of the organization. Finally, the work of the group was presented to a jury made up of private sector companies like Philips, Banco General de Panama y el Fondo Unido PTY. Thanks to these workshops, UNFPA country offices will prepare national strategies to develop strategic partnerships and diversify their sources of funding for their development programs.
