

The BoP’s 1st International Summit: Pushing the Boundaries of BoP is taking place in Sao Paulo (Brazil), November 7-8 2013. Hosted by Enterprise for a Sustainable World (ESW) and Global Social Impact (GSI) in collaboration with the BoP Learning Labs from around the world, the forum aims to push the boundaries of BoP business by highlighting innovative new clean technology products and inclusive business models for the base of the pyramid from around the world.
One of BoP Global Network main goals is to identify and document successful cases in order to inspire the growing community of practitioners working today on innovative models and make sure successful projects get replicated and maximize potential impact. With this core mission in mind, BoP Global Network presents in this 1st International Summit the report “Raising the Base of the Pyramid Through Enterprise – Innovative Case Studies of BoP Ventures and Initiatives”, documenting sixteen case studies implemented by the BoP Global Network Learning Labs (also known as Innovation Centers) from around the world.
The Summit starts with an opening addressed by Stuart Hart, ESW President, and Andrea Shpak, BoP Global Network Director, followed by an official welcome by the BoP Global Network sponsors Alessandro Carlucci, President of Natura; Paolo Nigro, President to Tetra Pak Brazil; and Rodrigo Kede, President of IBM Brazil. The sessions are structured in Executive Dialogues, Keynotes and Networks in Action. The first of them, ‘Network in Action I: Distribution and Scaling’, will be moderated by Fernando Casado Cañeque, Global CAD Director.
The 2013 BoP Global Network Summit is the first Forum in Latin America that brings together the BoP Learning Labs from around the world with leading experts such as Dr. Stuart Hart, a top authority on the implications of environment and poverty for business strategy, along with leaders from the private sector, civil society, government, and development sector. Amongst them, Ted London, BoP Director; William Davidson, Institute at the University of Michigan; Carmen Correa, Director at Avina Foundation; Carlos Ximenes, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Microinvest S.A.- Itaú-Unibanco; John Gardner, Vice President and CSO at Novelis, Inc, among others.
