Summary of the book:

The book “Base of the Pyramid and inclusive business opportunities for the majority” aims to analyze issues related to the base of the pyramid, inclusive business and social entrepreneurship. Its contents provide an avid discussion on innovative processes aimed at removing structural barriers and propose incentives for the creation of value in marginal environments. The application of these strategies was a change of mind concerning the relationship between economy and society, natural inputs of the productive world and populations in marginal situation. The examples in this book account for the effectiveness of the programs and the impact these are supposed to generate for better and more stable conditions for social cohesion.

This book is the result of a series of three conferences organized by the Foundation Iberemprende: “Business with the Bottom of the Pyramid: the evolution of social action and development cooperation”, “Innovation, Social Enterprises and Inclusive Business: Experiences Latin America” and “The promotion of private sector as an engine of development”. These conferences counted with the participation of speakers such as Fernando Casado, Director of the Centre for Development Partnerships and Guadalupe de la Mata, the European Investment Bank (EIB) among other leading specialists from Latin America and Spain.
