In 2009, the European Commission (DG Environment) launched a study on the “Analysis of differences between regional, national or sector-specific non-formal environmental management systems and EN/ISO 14001 and development of guidelines for organisations on how to move from these environmental management systems to EMAS. The study has been implemented by Adelphi and Bio Intelligence.
